I would just like to know of some good debt consolidation companies that people have used that are friendly to people with fair credit and that are simple to recieve help from.

What is a good debt consolidation company that will negotiate what you owe by negotiating with the creditor, and then you owe less than before to each creditor, but you owe them for one big new loan , to them for paying your debts?
So they are getting your debts down by negotiating and then give you a consolidation loan to cover the amount owed to them now?

I am considering filing bankruptcy. I know that consumer proposals – debt consolidation are another option. If anyone can give me information on this it would be much appreciated and the most thorough answer will get 10 points – again thanks.

I’ve got us into serious debt and are letting Debt Free Direct help us sort this out, but they keep changing their minds as to whether an IVA is suitable for us or a remortgage. We are both 50 and in full time employment

What is the benefit of using debt consolidation for credit card debt? I am trying to decide to either call the credit card companies myself and negotiate for a lower payoff/settlement amount, or to use a debt consolidation company? If I negotiate with the credit cards directly, will that be considered a charge off? I would want to settle myself if I can to avoid paying all the months of high interest. But if I use debt consolidation, then they will charge me a fee every month for so many years? What is their purpose? What would be the best route to go financially?

If anyone has any experiences with good or bad in dealing with a debt consolidation company let me know. Would it be a good idea to have one help me if I have about 4,000 dollars in debt?
