I spent all day yesterday listing books and CD’s for sale at fishpond. I have 160 items listed and still more to go. There’s also a huge pile of stuff (clothes, crockery, collectibles etc) to sold on either eBay or Etsy. I feel like I am really starting to see the results of the last year or so of decluttering in the house. The cupboards are getting barer, the excess in disappearing.

It feels very liberating.

As I was workingI found myself thinking about the things I’d like to do again once we finish this downsizing process. Simple things like curling up with a good book (borrowed from the library), getting back to sewing, quilting and crocheting, having time to work in the garden, swimming, meditating and going on retreats. Perhaps returning to study. Travel.

All things that have gone by the wayside over the last five+ years.

As I cleaned I listened to Dave Ramseys FPU classes again and it really did help to get me motivated to Get This Done ASAP! Selling the stuff will help speed up the process. The sooner I am debt free and downsized the sooner I have more time to do the things I want to do!

**I came across a new site for US readers: Gazelle.com? where you can sell electronics, phones, movies. I have no idea how good it is so if anyone has used it please leave a comment.

P.S. Ever dreamed of selling everything and being free to travel as you please? I would be up for it, but realistically it’s probably not going to happen. But I can find a compromise! Here are some interesting posts & blogs on selling everything to travel:

I’ve just scored a long term writing job that will see me earn up to $200 per week in my spare time!! YeeHah!!? After listening to more debt free stories I decided that I’d like to really mow down this debt even faster if possible. I used to do writing work in the past on elance so I went on and made a few bids and after a little bit of negotiation I’ve scored a long term writing job that suits me down to the ground. It’s work that I find easy, I know the subject inside out and I’ll bang out a few articles each morning before work.

Writing is the fastest, easiest way that I know to make extra money from home. Just before I got sick I scored a big contract for over $7000, unfortunately I had to cancel it. But I have found it one way to get money quickly and I find it easy to do.

So, its less time online surfing the net for me and more money for snowflakes!? I worry sometimes how I’ll adjust when this debt is gone. I think about it all the time and count the days till the next payday, or the next snowflake. I look at my debt snowball every day and play around with the numbers. I think it will take a lot for me to really feel secure again financially after all that’s happened.
